Wild Animal Babies & "Helping" Humans

Spring is here and our wild animal friends are reproducing.  The babies stand a chance of becoming adults if they are not "helped" by humans.

Mother deer and rabbits will hide their babies and return to them only at feeding time.  They do this so they do not draw attention to their young.  Both species are born with the natural instinct to stay perfectly still when a possible predator is near.  Uninformed humans interpret this to mean that the baby has been abandoned and needs "help".

Mother birds will continue to take care of their baby when it falls or is blown out of its nest if the baby is left alone on the ground.  I have never heard of a baby bird surviving when "helped" by a human.

Please remember when enjoying the great outdoors that the only way you can help what appears to be an abandoned baby animal is to walk on by.

Thank you for helping our wildlife.
