Categories and Rules
Entry Fee – NONE
Categories - Ribs, Brisket, Chicken, Brats, Sides and Desserts.
Each team will be provided a disposable sample container for each category. Team numbers will be on the container entered for judging. We will have three impartial judges not involved in the cooking contest.
Ribs – Each cook prepares at least one rack of ribs and will turn in a three-rib sample at 3:30 p.m. – Judging at 4:00 p.m. (In addition, each Pit Master will be asked to smoke a rack of ribs, provide by the club, for the rib dinner.)
Brisket – Each cook prepares at least one (1) pound of brisket and will turn in a sample at 4:00 p.m. – Judging at 4:30p.m.
Brats and/or Chicken – Each cook prepares at least six (6) brats and/or one (1) pound of chicken and will turn in one brat sample and/or a chicken sample at 4:30 p.m. – Judging at 5 p.m.
*Separate set of judges for sides and desserts. Sides and Desserts will be judged at the same time.*
Sides – Each cook prepares their own side to enter and will turn in a sample at 5:00 p.m. – Judging at 5:30 p.m. (The sample should only be large enough for each of the three judges to try two bites). Each side item MUST incorporate bacon. (All sides will be donated to the dinner.)
Desserts – Each cook prepares one dessert to enter and will turn in a sample – turn in at 5:15 p.m. – Judging at 5:30 p.m. (The sample should only be large enough for each of the three judges to try two bites). Each dessert entry MUST include pumpkin or cheese. (All desserts will be donated to the dinner.)
Cash prizes will be awarded. $25 for 1st place in each category!
Rib Dinner at 6:00 p.m. Rib Dinner is donation-based. You must make a donation to get a tasting plate. Tasting plates will be offered for any donation given.
**All donations for tasting plates will go to NEW CREATION LIFEWORK, a non-profit organization that supports homeless vets. We are proud that the organization’s leader is one of our Fall Festival Vendors.
